SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (2012)
Directed by David O. Russell
Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver
After being released from a psychiatric hospital, a man with bipolar disorder moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife, until he meets a girl with issues of her own.
I heard great reviews of this film when it first came out. I was intrigued by its plot and I became even more intrigued when I found out that Jennifer Lawrence was in it. I've never seen her act a really heavy and dramatic role before so I was really excited to see it for myself. If you've been reading my blog, you'll know that I love movies with a lot of drama and angst. I was not expecting this movie to be so full of it but I'm glad it did. It's definitely one of the best films of 2012.
Where do I begin? Jennifer Lawrence blew me away. I'm so happy that she won the Academy Award for Best Actress because she freaking deserved it! She put a lot of effort into role. When I was watching the movie, I did not see Jennifer Lawrence. Instead, I saw a damaged girl with lots of emotional issues. She took her role seriously and it showed. The same goes for Bradley Cooper. I'm not a big fan of him but he surpassed my expectations. I think this movie is a turning point for both of their careers. Everything else was perfect. The writing, cinematography, everything. Props to David Russel and the whole cast and crew!
This movie was 3 things: genuine, touching, and heartfelt. I felt for every character, especially Jennifer Lawrence's and Bradley Cooper's. I would definitely watch this again and again.
