The Mr. and Ms. SGEN Pageant was held on September 25, 2013, at the Luxembourg Gym of Southville International School and Colleges. This year's pageant had a little twist, with both the high school department and the college department of the SGEN schools competing for the titles. The contestants strutted in their national costumes, swimwear, and evening wear and they faced the most awaited portion of the program, the Q&A.
To be honest, the only reason I watched the pageant is because of the backdrop. Do you see that beautiful, amazing backdrop in the 2nd picture? We painted that. Yes. The whole thing. It took us 3 grueling days and all our hard work and effort paid off because it looked so perfect when it was mounted onstage. Although it was really exhausting, it was really fun because I got to spend time with people from the other batches and I was actually being productive, for once.
Going back to the pageant, I forgot who the winners were for the high school department but the winners for the college department were Mark Elliot Castillo and Tessa Regli from SISC. They also won numerous special awards that night and I think they both deserved them. Congrats to them!
Here is a rare picture of me (the one in blue) with my classmate at our IC 5 Fine Dining event. I'm not usually one to dress up for events but since this was a final exam, I had no choice but to look like a decent human being and wear painful heels for one night. It's so hard being a girl.
Our culminating activity was held at The Village Sports Club on September 18, 2013. It was a semi-formal event, so we all had to look sharp and sleek; the girls wore their cocktail dresses while the guys dressed up in their suits. The program included a fashion show, intermission numbers, a cotillion and an awarding ceremony for the ladies and gents who stood out during the night.
Despite the fact that my feet were aching the entire time, it was nice seeing my classmates all fancy and dressed up. Events like this barely happen all the time so I might as well enjoy it. Yay to dresses and being all girly!
