THE CONJURING (2013)

A married couple working as paranormal investigators tries to help a family who has been experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse.

This movie was everywhere even before it came out. After people discovered that it was directed by the same person who directed Insidious, everyone just went nuts knowing this movie was going to be even better. It first came out in the US and the reactions were all positive. Most, if not all, the reviews I read were saying how incredibly scary it was and how they couldn't sleep for days after they watched it. Naturally, I was excited to see it for myself.

I was kind of disappointed. Maybe I had high expectations but it was not as scary as I imagined it to be. Or maybe it's because I watched it on a DVD and not in the cinema. But still, a good horror movie should easily scare people both in the theater and at home. There were some parts that me twitch a bit but that's about it.

Maybe I've watched too many horror films already to not be scared of them anymore, but I was really hoping this one would keep me awake for a week. Sadly (and fortunately), it did not. Oh well, maybe Insidious 2 will change all of that.
