INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (2009)
Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth
Starring Brad Pitt, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger
In a fictional alternate history during World War 2, both a French Jewish cinema owner and a group of U.S. Jewish soldiers have one goal in common: to assassinate the Nazi leaders currently occupying France.
If it's directed by Quentin Tarantino, then you know you're gonna be in for a ride. I'm not too sure about his lesser-known films, but his most popular films have never disappointed. I was a bit hesitant at first because I'm not really into war films but I decided to give it a try anyway because I've heard so many good reviews and it won on Oscar so I'm sure it's as good as they say it is.
I had high expectations for this movie and no doubt that they were all met. The entire cast was perfect! I rarely say this but they were all so perfect. I don't think they could've picked better actors. Let me start with Christoph Waltz. Man, oh man. Words cannot express how amazing his acting was. You immediately see how annoyingly good he is within the first few minutes of the movie and that just shows how much talent he has. He definitely deserves the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Melanie Laurent was my favorite. I'm running out of words but she was also so good. I'm sad about what happened to her character but at the same time, I'm happy that she was able to accomplish what she has wanted to do for a long time. Also, yay for BJ Novak for starring in this movie (aka that dude next to Brad Pitt)! I just felt like I needed to say that.
There are so many other things I can say about this movie. The writing was spot on. I like how the movie was split into chapters. I love the fact that they used different languages. I also like how they put a bit of humor into Brad Pitt's character to spice things up a bit (as if all the killing and drama wasn't enough). Basically, the entire movie was perfect. That's all I have to say.
